Sybil's show is completely sold out

By René Hill

The Queen of Bermuda is at it again with yet another Blowpop production — Sybil's Pussycat Dream Dolls.

If you don't already have tickets for tonight, don't even give it another thought, as the show is already sold out. But there is still hope for the two performances tomorrow night.

Showtimes for Sybil's Pussycat Dream Dolls are 8 p.m. for this evening's performance, and 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. respectively for tomorrow evening's showcases at the City Hall Theatre.

Sybil's Pussycat Dream Dolls' special celebrity guest Clarice Taylor, who is an actress, was unable to attend, but Sybil Barrington a.k.a. Mark Anderson told The Royal Gazette that although he was disappointed, he did understand.

Mr. Anderson went on to explain that he had invited Ms Taylor, best known for her role as Cliff Huxtable's mother on 'The Cosby Show', as she was instrumental in his US career growth.

"She was my mentor and she was the one that got me my first gig at Cotton Club," explained Mr. Anderson.

"I ended up at the Apollo and then the most popular was at Copeland's Restaurant and it is where I opened for Cathy Sharpton, who was the original singer for James Brown and now she is Rev. L. Sharpton's wife."

However, the show still has a marvellous line up of female impersonators as well as local singer Rochelle Simons Lecomte, who was one of the first Bermudian women to be signed with a major international recording label, and the Two Fools, Nadanja Bailey and Jahrizno Simmons."

The female impersonators include Tyra Colbaire, Mirkala Crystal, Kika Couture and Domonique Shappelle.

"We are doing 'Dream Girls'," he said.

"Tyra is going to sing some songs from the new and the old Dream Girls."

Tickets are $50 advance and $60 at the door. They are available from Shannon's Boutique and at www.boxoffice.bm.
